Our Medical Volunteers

Each mission is staffed with a team of volunteer professionals trained to address the needs of a specific region and patient base. Volunteer surgeons, nurses and supporting staff are selected to render the highest quality surgical care to the greatest number of children in each location.

During a week-long mission, these dedicated individuals synchronize their talents through long hours of screening, cataloging, selecting and operating on as many cases as possible.  

The HUGS team of medical volunteers bring their expertise to remote areas lacking in state-of-the-art equipment and medical practices.  We are amazed at the transformations that take place seen not only in the patients we serve, but in the local medical community, who are oftentimes inspired to continue their own study of these advanced methods of reconstruction.
