Nerve Monitoring System - an essential component of Microtia Repair 

Microtia repair requires a surgeon to work in close proximity to the main facial nerve.  If this nerve becomes damaged, it will lead to weakness or paralysis on half of the face.  Clearly, in surgery this complex, it is imperative to maintain the highest standards in patient safety, so HUGS team of surgeons will closely monitor this nerve during the surgical procedure with our state-of-the-art Nerve Monitoring System.  We have taken this piece of medical equipment with us on each medical mission in the past, but this is increasingly difficult to do partly because of the baggage restrictions on airplanes.
