Help Us Give Smiles

Help Us Give Smiles is the message of the HUGS Foundation, Inc. Our volunteers travel to Ecuador, Vietnam, and Guatemala to provide free surgeries for cleft lip, cleft palate, microtia, cleft rhinoplasty, and other congenital facial deformities. We change lives by giving smiles.

Changing Lives One Smile at a Time

Dr. Vito C. Quatela is not only a global leader in the field of aesthetic facial surgery but also in changing the lives of children across the globe. The founder and President of HUGS believes that “every human being has the fundamental right to the opportunity to grow and develop socially and intellectually without being ostracized or rejected due to physical abnormality.” Help us help children. One smile at a time.

Did you know?

In the US, surgery for microtia can cost an average of $40,000.
For the same amount, HUGS missions can perform surgeries for nearly 60 children in Ecuador!

You Can Help

Our mission volunteers include doctors, nurses, and anesthesiologists who donate their time, skills, and expertise. The medical team is joined by volunteers for administrative tasks.

You don’t have to travel to help. We have many opportunities for volunteers right here in the US. No time to volunteer? We need donations of medical supplies, medications, and more.

“Talking to a patient’s father after surgery to let him know it went well, the father started to say thank you. But he stopped talking as tears came to his eyes. That expression of love and gratitude said more than any words could convey.”
